Dear Grassroots Friends and Supporters,

 

We hope this finds all of you staying safe and well during this challenging time. As the days go by it becomes increasingly clear that, while glimpses of progress are peeking through the clouds, we still have a long road ahead of us. Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our beloved Play in May Tennis Tournament and Fundraiser this year. 

 

This was a heartbreaking decision as Play in May has become a vital community building event that brings together all of our amazing, tennis-loving friends to provide critical support for our Grassroots student-athletes. We are looking into options for a possible modified tournament in the fall, but we have to monitor how things unfold in the coming months. 

 

We know the impact of this crisis is leaving no one untouched, and we understand that resources are strained throughout all corners of society. For Grassroots, the financial hit of cancelling this event is significant and will impact our children and youth, at a time when their need for our services and support is exponentially increasing. If you are able to, and feel so inclined, we invite you to donate your Play in May registration to Grassroots by clicking here. Any amount will make a big difference towards closing our now growing gap in revenue.

 

We are keeping our sights set on the time we can all gather together again to celebrate the hard work and perseverance of our student-athletes - please put August 29th on your calendars for our rescheduled Grand Slam Gala. In the meantime, we thank you all for your continued support. From the Grassroots Team to all of you and your loved ones, we send best wishes for good health, resilience, and kindness in tackling the days ahead.
